I. Cách Dùng.
1. Diễn tả một quyết định, một ý định nhất thời nảy ra ngay tại thời điểm nói.
– Ví dụ 1: Are you going to the bookshop? I will go with you. (Bạn đang tới tiệm sách à? Tôi sẽ đi với bạn).
– Ví dụ 2: I will come back home to take my document which I have forgotten. (Tôi sẽ về nhà để lấy tài liệu mà tôi để quên).
2. Diễn tả một dự đoán không có căn cứ.
– Ví dụ 1: I think she will come to the party. (Tôi nghĩ rằng cô ấy sẽ tới bữa tiệc).
– Ví dụ 2: He supposes that he will get a better job. (Anh ấy tin rằng anh ấy sẽ kiếm được 1 công việc tốt hơn).
3. Diễn tả một lời hứa hay lời yêu cầu đề nghị.
– Ví dụ 1: I promise that I will tell you the truth. (Tôi hứa là tôi sẽ nói thật với bạn).
– Ví dụ 2: Will you please bring me a cup of tea? (Làm ơn mang cho tôi 1 tách trà được không?)
4. Sử dụng trong câu điều kiện loại một để diễn tả điều kiện có thật ở hiện tại.
– Ví dụ 1: If they come, I will go with them. (Nếu bọn họ đến, tôi sẽ đi với bọn họ).
– Ví dụ 2: If it stops raining soon, we will go out. (Nếu trời tạnh mưa sớm thì chúng ta sẽ đi chơi).
II. Cấu Trúc.
Câu khẳng định: S + will + V-bare + O.
– Ví dụ 1: She will bring you some fruit. (Cô ấy sẽ mang cho bạn một ít trái cây).
– Ví dụ 2: I will help her with her homework tomorrow. (Tôi sẽ giúp cô ấy làm bài tập vào ngày mai).
Câu phủ định: S + will + not + V-bare + O.
* Lưu ý: Will not = Won’t.
– Ví dụ 1: I won’t tell her the truth. (Tôi sẽ không nói cho cô ấy biết sự thật).
– Ví dụ 2: They won’t stay at this hotel. (Bọn sẽ không ở lại khách sạn này).
Câu nghi vấn yes/no-question: Will + S + V-bare + O?
Câu nghi vấn wh-question: Wh-q+ will + S + V-bare?
– Ví dụ 1: Will you leave tomorrow? (Bạn sẽ đi vào ngày mai phải không?)
– Ví dụ 2: What will they buy? (Bọn họ sẽ mua gì vậy?)
* Đặc biệt.
+ Ngoài “Will” ra thì chúng ta còn có thể sử dụng “Shall”, và chức năng 2 từ này như nhau. Bởi vì “Shall” không phổ biến nên tiếng anh hiện đại bây giờ rất hiếm gặp.
+ Shall chỉ đi được với 2 chủ ngữ là “I” và We”.
– Ví dụ: I “We” shall go to the cinema tomorrow. (Tôi “Chúng tôi” sẽ đi tới rạp chiếu phim vào ngày mai).
III. Dấu Hiệu Nhận Biết.
+ Câu có chứa các trạng từ chỉ thời gian tương lai: Next week/ next month/ next year (tuần sau/ tháng sau/ năm sau), tomorrow (ngày mai), in + thời gian tương lai (in 10 minutes : trong 10 phút nữa) …
+ Câu có những động từ chỉ quan điểm như: Think/ believe/ suppose (nghĩ là/ tin là/ cho là), perhaps/ probably (có lẽ) …
